Any Free Laptop Deals that are Real not a scam?

October 292009

Are there any real websites that are 100 percent legitament no scams nothing to get a free laptop if u fill out a long survey?

You usually get the laptop after doing about $100 worth of advertising offers like Columbia House, iTunes, etc. You do have to give away your privacy and have three of your friends do it too, so in a way, you have to "share" your laptop.

How do I remove Laptop Parts?

October 292009

I have a HP Pavillion dv9000 and have disesembled it to the point were I can see the procesor. How do I remove it and how should I store it. Also, how do I remove the disk drive, screen and face plate?
The reason I want to do this is because several pieces of hardware broke and I want to salvage what I can.

You can find the service manual, below, which will help when you try and reassemble your laptop. It will also detail how to properly remove your CPU, drives, screen panels, etc..

As far as storage, you can safely keep the CPU in an anti-static bag…be careful not to bend any pins!

Good luck!

How can I start a decent home-based desktop publishing and Video production business?

October 292009

Posted in desktop | 6 Comments »

I am wanting to begin a small homebased desktop publishing company and im looking for some info. from anyone who owns a small desktop publishing company or knows about starting a business or anyone who just knows a lot about desktop publishing. I need to know what software and hardware is also needed. I also am into video production. Like taking old home videos and sprucing them up and puting them on dvd and things like that.

You don’t need a Mac. Its a great computer but a colossal waste of money. You don’t want to buy a piece of crap PC either (HP, Compaq) you want a Dell or Gateway, or preferably a local shop can build you one using all the finest parts….any of those three options is better than HP

More important than the computer, is the software….and the Adobe software you’ll be needing is available on both platforms…only… PC’s are 1/5 the cost of a Mac. That is why you’d be throwing your money away getting a Mac.

I’ve been in the printing/graphics industry for 15 years. I have Mac and PC’s now. I can tell you that Macs have absolutely no advantage over a PC… ZERO, zilch, nada, zippity, None.

all the advertising you see on TV is a bunch of fluff. Its the software that makes a computer productive anyway….not the machine. In the end..will anyone ever know if your website or brochure was created on a Mac or PC? …no…exactly.

Oh yes..final note…do not under any circumstances, use MS Publisher. It is the bane of the printing industry…it has compatibility issues up the gazoo. It is complete garbage.

Adobe In-Design is the new industry standard.

In what year will desktops become obsolete?

October 292009

Posted in desktops | 9 Comments »

I see everyone has a laptop now and u can pretty much get the same performance if u have enough money to spend. I think that in 2 years, companies will stop making desktops, just like the CRT Monitors.

Desk tops will be around for awhile. Think of all the Graphic Designers and Auto Cad users. While programs like auto cad 2009 can run on some lap tops, a desk top is a cheaper way to take full advantage of the program.

I am looking at getting a macbook or macbook pro, I have always used a PC, anyone have any advice?

More specifically has anyone converted from PC user to mac user, how was the transition? Is a mac easy to learn how to use? Anyone have any specific thoughts on macbooks or pro?

for the macbook or the pro’s it really depends on your need… I recently switched from PC to mac and the transition I love it with Mac. It was damn easy and learning each thing was fun except the first day i got little frustrated by some of the anti pc options. but then i found mac was easier than pc in all ways. they reduce the number of steps u need to do on a single process and dont worry u have a bootcamp so u can load windows on ur macbook and never worry of the windows appliction not running on the mac. they have a lot of tutorial still i would say that you will be frustrated the 1st couple of days as being a PC user after that everything wil turn great with MAC
