Can I reuse Windows 7 OEM edition disk on the same pc I used it on?

I know that I can not install it on other computers, but would it be possible to reuse it on the same pc i used it for?

I did some research on this because I used one on a desktop I built. Yes you can. You already know that it can not be installed on other computers but my research indicates that doesn’t include certain hardware changes to the original computer. Hard drives, graphic cards, and sound cards not a problem. My research seems to indicate that motherboard change would be an issue, because the OS thinks it is a different computer, but not a problem. It appears a phone call to Microsoft will fix even that. Now this I know for a fact because I did it. When I built my desktop, with Windows 7 OEM, I was personalizing it and trying to change some things to look and behave more like Vista. I kept on trying things, they wouldn’t work, screwing up my computer. So I would just reinstall the OS and start from scratch. The third or fourth time, please don’t laugh, when I went to activate it online it wouldn’t. But that was solved with a phone call to an 800# using an automated system at Microsoft. Even after that I screwed it up one more time, again please don’t laugh, and reinstalled the OS. It went thru no problem. I got it right that time and it has been in place ever since. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

How do you fix pixelation problem for a home video from China?

My wife has a home video from China. They use PAL video format. When I tried to import it into iMovie, it was pixelated like looking through a plexiglass window. Is there any software out there that can fix this problem? Is this problem related to frame rate? 25 Vs 30 fps?

Higher end editors like Premiere and Final Cut permit PAL or NTSC projects. You could bring it in as a PAL project and render it out as NTSC. Never had to do that but it should work.

Hi ,

I am going to be travelling from Australia to India, and I have two laptops. One of them is not working (is approx 3 yrs old) and I need to leave it in India with my folks. The other laptop is my new laptop (1 yr old), which I cannot leave here.

Can anyone tell me if it is allowed to carry two laptops internationally, esp from Australia to India ? None of these is a gift and none of them is in new condition.

Pls help ! Thanks !

I am using Dell studio 1435 laptop for last one year. Few days back I am noticing a blinking line at the bottom of the screen, just below the task bar.I noticed that the line is growing thicker and thicker.
Can any body explain me the problem, and what it could be and how I can resolve this problem.

Sounds like a hardware issue with the LCD. You should get it serviced.

What is a political problem that contributes to making mexico a least developed country?

I have a economic problem for mexico, which is the oil loan.
I have a social problem for mexico, which is the immigration.
But i need to have a political problem to make a valid statement in my news article

Lack of Capitalism. That is what made us great, and 0bama wants to "spread the wealth". A true sign of an absolute socialist. but, the Mexicans never grasped Capitalism. That is their problem, that and Catholics do not believe in birth control… so the volume just spills over to our nation.

Should I buy a refurbished PC?

May 92010

Is it worth buying a refurbished PC? Will they be just as good as buying a PC brand new?

When you buy a refurbished PC, you’re essentially buying a computer which was sent back to the factory due to some problem, usually minor. The computer has been repaired, but since it’s already been used, it can’t really be sold as new or for the new price.

Usually, there really isn’t anything to be too worried about. However, what is really important is the warranty period; standard warranty period is 1 year. If you are buying it from a site like NewEgg or TigerDirect, they tend to offer extended warranty. I always recommend that people buy the extended warranty. If something does happen to your machine just after the year mark of the initial warranty, you’re screwed unless you have the extended warranty.

Do some research with the model of the refurbished machine you’re intending to buy. See if there are any typical or recurring problems with that model. It’ll help you with making your purchasing decision.

where Can I get a good refurbished pc?

May 42010

I really need a good computer within the next month or so and I can’t afford the build I want so im thinking about getting a refurbished PC but I don’t know where I should get one or what I should get. Im going to be using it primarily for gaming until I go back to school. any help would be appreciated.

You can’t really get refurbished computers for gaming.

Your best bet would be to build one yourself from Newegg.com – They have nice reviews on the parts, have bundles, and very low prices.

You can also try Craigs List, but I highly recommend that you don’t buy computers from there.. Most people don’t know anything about the computer, and they probably bought it from Best Buy or something..

Anyways, there are probably some local shops that might build one for you, but they will want profit, so you’ll probably get ripped off.

I actually bought a Dell Inspiron brand new from their website, but I customized the parts inside during the order process.

I’m not sure how much your build was, but mine was only $600, and it’s pretty nice for gaming. Check out your options! Dell usually over prices, but they had a nice discount on the model I bought from.. This was probably around 6-8 months ago though..

ATI Radeon HD 4350 512MB DDR2
ATI Phenom x3 (Triple core) 2.4 Ghz
2GB of RAM (I put another 2GB in it myself)
Windows Vista (I loaded it with Windows 7 shortly after)

Blah blah.. My point is, $600 and I had myself a very nice rig. I can’t run every game on high settings with the Radeon HD 4350, because it’s like a $50 graphics card these days.. But with around $100-$150 card, I could easily run high demanding games on max.

Can I get win 7 DVDs from Mic. for free when I have the genuine version of it on my pc?

May 22010

So basically I got a refurbished pc that comes with a fresh genuine windows 7 installed on it but no windows DVDs. Now, I’m not sure if this is how it’s done nowadays but I’d like to have the original windows DVDs.

No, but you may be able to contact the PC’s manufacturer and get restore discs for a reasonable price.
