How do I know what my remote desktop connection password is?

March 72010

Posted in desktop | 1 Comment »

Both of my computers are networked properly, and are working fine. My laptop is running Windows 7, my desktop is XP. I’m trying to use my laptop to connect to the desktop. When i go on, they ask for a username and password, but I don’t know what it is.

Its the same username/password you would use to login to the computer directly. There isn’t a separate "remote connection only" password.

From http://www.ImprovEverywhere.com, three agents entered a Starbucks one by one with their own giant desktop computer and CRT monitor rig. They bought coffee and worked at their computers as if they were laptops. One computer even had a Wi-Fi card installed, enabling our agent to surf the web.

This is one of over 70 different missions Improv Everywhere has executed over the past six years in New York City. Others include the No Pants Subway Ride, the Best Buy uniform prank, and the famous U2 Rooftop Hoax, to name a few. Visit the website to see tons of photos and video of all of our work, including behind the scenes information on how this video was made.

How do I shrink my desktop backround picture to fit on the screen right?

March 52010

Posted in desktop | 2 Comments »

I have a jpeg picture saved in my files that I selected as my desktop backround. When I go into Control Panel, Display properties, Desktop, and select the Position, Stretch is the only way to get the entire picture on the screen but it’s all "stretched" out to the sides and distorted. If I select Center or Tile Position it is giant and only fits a small portion of the pic on the screen. Please help!

The problem is not the size of your pic, it’s the dimensions proportion. It’s taller than it is wide, right?

You’re going to have to edit, crop actually, to make it roughly 4:3, or 16:9 if you have a wide-screen monitor. So use an image editor program to crop the top and/or bottom of the pic. Paint is already on your computer, altho it’s kind of hard to use.

What are good sites to get 1920×1200 desktop images of snowy owls?

February 252010

I’ve just spent a while on Google, but I’m not finding anything cool enough at 1920×1200 for my desktop.
Free is a must, can’t justify paying for a desktop image.
I’m sure there are tons and tons and tons of cool shots of snowy owls in flight (at my desired resolution) but I’m not finding them.
Thanks for any ideas.

How do I connect my desktop computer to the internet with a wireless router?

How do I connect my desktop computer to the internet with a wireless router?
I have a Windows XP desktop computer. I also have a work laptop i bought a modem for. How do I I connect my desktop to the internet with the router. (laptop is XP too) step by step instructions please!!!

I take it your PC is wireless? Anyway, your wilan will pick up wireless networks within distance. You click on your router name and enter the network key usually found on the back of your router then it should connect.

If it doesn’t connect or say acquiring network address or limited to no connectivity then you have to configure settings.

What happens when you do the above???

What is the easiest way to remote desktop?

I’m sick of all these so called remote desktop programs and stuff that never work. Can ANYONE AT ALL please tell me how to connect to a remote desktop? I need to connect to a computer in MO from my computer here in KY. Both are running Windows Vista. I do not want anything that costs money to buy because none of them that I tried so far even work like they advertise.

Windows Remote Desktop doesn’t work?

You may need to make sure it’s enabled on both PCs and the firewall allows it to connect. If the one you are trying to connect to is behind a router, you will need to enable port forwarding.

I use UltraVNC to connect to remote clients. Fast and simple. Port forwarding will need to be enabled also if behind a router.
