Also make sure you download the ISO’s correctly.. I saw someone who put up a “linux sucks” video and the reason he thought it sucked was that his laptop didn’t load the CDROM, which some attributed to a corrupt boot disk.. The minimum memory for Ubuntu would be 512MB but I suggest a gig..

Also if you wifi card doesn’t work on Ubuntu. there is a “ndiswrapper” program that permits you to use other wifi cards using Windows drivers.. The same sort of thing is used when adding scanners that don’t work with Linux. Also if you choose fedora or suse or any of the otehr versions of linux, you can download and install debian packages by using a program called “Alien” to convert “deb” packages to “rpm”, and it works vice versa.

Yeah if you don’t have enough memory Ubuntu won’t but there is other versions of Ubuntu which may work if you have enough memory such as Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Linux Mint.
