I have a macbook …
I have a macbook with osx and a toshiba satelite L300 with vista. the mac is easier to use and looks so much better, but my windows computer is much faster, and you can actually play games on it.
It is nice not to have to run virus scans with the mac though

Interesting …
Interesting tutorial. I’ve been working with GeekTool a little myself, although I’ve been a bit stumped on installing an analog clock. I’ve also had trouble getting system process trackers installed, as SL doesn’t want to play nice with the *nix commands I found.
On another note, think there’s a way to take that LED Cinema Display image and get it to show information? That would be appealing. Good job, altho in the future, you may want to change your shirt. Just saying! Again, nice walkthrough.

@EnDZYm3 Apple doesn’t bash Microsoft…. That’s hype and rumors. Microsoft created and crashed all software manufacture that ever exist. Microsoft is used 90% in many if not most business. The unexplained and non-support of the Windows machine made people of all kind upset. The virus, crashing, and non support is the blame. Vista didn’t help either!! Microsoft has billions of dollars! So, relax!! It’s all advertising, competing, media hype! Get the machine that you like!

Well, the ads are not for current Mac users, because they are already convinced, but it is for Windows users to make them understand that there is something else, maybe even better than Windows. Users are not likely to switch if they have the feeling that their current OS is good enough as well, so Apple has to make them feel that they are using a inferior OS, so that they will try Mac OS X out, and Apple will be able to gain a greater market share.

I use it because of …
I use it because of the price, compared to other laptops with the same feature it’s about the same price with the iPod and student discount.
AND ALSO, Google, among other new upcoming companies relating to IS/IT are using Apple products more and more.
I’m not saying it’s great, but it’s pretty decent.
You should also look up famous people who have used Apple products, Adam Savage of Mythbusters is a good one. =]
Love Windows 7 the most though, at least try Mac OSX.

Still not enough to make me convert though.
Why would I want to convert?
Well, I want to go to school for music production and engineering, and the school is going to force me into “the family.” Same thing with any art school. They’ll make you use a Mac as well.
I’m doomed.

They’re direct …
They’re direct competitors, Microsoft and Apple are both bashing each other. Like Intel and AMD awhile back when AMD stood a chance. Along with every car manufactor, and so on, it’s competition.
Apple ‘just works’ due to the hardware, software and drivers especially are made for each other, awhile Acer, Dell, and HP aren’t a unified company.
I don’t believe in the motto of ‘it just works’ I’m currently struggling as a student programmer to adapt, but nonetheless it’s very interesting. Win7 <3

Can I ask an honest question? It seems every time I ask, not even the biggest Mac enthusiast can give me a straight answer. Or worse, they quote that lame Apple slogan
“It just works.”
Well, if it “just works,” why does Apple continue to bash Microsoft in every advertisement? Is it because, if they didn’t, their fanbase would feel insecure because they’re such a small minority?
Please, fill me in. Somebody, anybody, give me a good reason to not hate Apple and it’s elitist enthusiasts.
