Anand Agarawala: BumpTop desktop is a beautiful mess
April 82010
http://www.ted.com Anand Agarawala presents BumpTop, a user interface that takes the usual desktop metaphor to a glorious, 3-D extreme, transforming file navigation into a freewheeling playground of crumpled documents and clipping-covered “walls.”

As an average …
As an average pc-user who feels the same way as the speaker when looking at a one-dimensional desktop, I really enjoyed BumpTop. I don’t have a lot of softwares and programs as my line of work doesn’t demand those, so it really doesn’t slow my pc down. I have it for a year or so now and I just love my desk(top)!

Great idea for a …
Great idea for a master’s thesis but inventing $1 million dollars to the technology is a big waste. Bumptop tech just adds a little fun to your computer daily uses. Other than that, what can I get? Will the computer work faster with a heavy graphic demanding application? Will my computer power consumption go down? Will it make CAD programs like Catia and Solidworks work more efficient? Is Bumptop a standalone OS or a plug-in to the conventional OS’s like Mac and Windows?
