@bobsy95uk. The …
@bobsy95uk. The board, proc and memory combo is fine. 2GB is the minimum I recommend for a gaming PC. The Windows 7 would benefit from 4GB memory install though. The 9500GT is a pretty low budget card. I recommend getting a better video card if you want it to hold you over for a bit. I currently have a Nvidia GTS250 that runs good for most tasks. The ATI cards are great right now, I really like the HD5850, but a little expensive. The older HD5770 is a great card at the lower price range.

Motherboards …
Motherboards usually have some sort of on board sound already. A separate add on sound card can be installed if you want better sound than what comes with the board.

Do you need to buy the sound card? or is it just already have something like that?

There are boards …
There are boards that use DDR3, but only run dual channel memory. You may have a board that doesn’t support tri channel. Is this an AMD processor system? Intel socket 1156 also run dual channel instead of tri.
April 17th, 2010 at 7:13 am
this is what it …
this is what it says
Number of Memory Slots: 4×240pin
Memory Standard: DDR3 1600(O.C.)/1333/1066/800
Maximum Memory:Supported 16GB
Channel Supported:Dual Channel
..does dat mean it doesnt support tri channel?
April 17th, 2010 at 7:13 am
Actually, you still …
Actually, you still do. The color coded slots differ depending on the board manufacturer. Check the manual to see which slots to populate to achieve the desired memory mode.

thank you..so i …
thank you..so i dont have to wrry about the different colored slots?
April 17th, 2010 at 7:13 am
Most tri channel …
Most tri channel boards have 4 memory slots. If you use 3 memory sticks, it runs in tri channel. If you put 4 in there it will revert to dual channel. There are boards with 6 slots available to add 6 sticks of memory and still remain tri channel.

ok..can i put a tri channel memory in a 4 slotted mobo??

You always go with …
You always go with the slot color closer to the cpu in case is a socket is not a core I7 where you have to use the farthest.

If you just …
If you just purchased it, they will have you return to the retailer. If it’s past the retailers return window, you will have to call EVGA for a RMA # and ship it to them at your own expense.
April 17th, 2010 at 7:13 am
Lol, I’ve tried …
Lol, I’ve tried many times. I assume the card is a defect. Oh btw, does EVGA have a free RMA process?
April 17th, 2010 at 7:13 am
If you haven’t …
If you haven’t tried already, unplug the system and re-seat the video card. Sometimes they seem like they are in there but they are not totally in the slot. I’ve done it, and I’ve been building for a long time, lol.
April 17th, 2010 at 7:13 am
Yes, I have tried …
Yes, I have tried that JUST now. It did not work. My RAM is indeed listed in there. G.Skill 2048 MB (kit of 2). Shall I RMA the graphics card?
April 17th, 2010 at 7:13 am
Looking at the …
Looking at the manual for that board, I would go with the black slots. Your memory may indeed be the issue if the speed / voltage isn’t detecting properly. Can you access the bios screen at all? You may also want to try one stick of memory in the first black slot only. Some DDR3 boards are very picky with the memory. Also check to see if your memory is on ASUS QVL list in section 2-12 of the manual.

Okay, so my mother …
Okay, so my mother board (Asus M4A79XTD EVO) has 4 slots for the RAMS. 1 pair is blue and the other is black. The black slots are labeled A1 and B1 slots. The blue pairs are labeled A2 and B2. I have 4GB Ram (meaning 2 sticks @ 2GB ea.) Which slots do I put them into? Also, whenever I boot up my comp, nothing shows up on my screen. Please help? I suppose its deriving from the RAM
