, problem stops when i touch the pick-up, Never happened when i bought it, Local guys not interested in fixing it. Dont care if there is a little noise, just want a quick fix to bring the volume level of the buzz down. When i turn the tone knob to zero problem, goes away. Can i just line the pick-up pots with alfoil or paint it with something?

You may not believe it could be this simple, but make sure you are not using an unshielded speaker cable somewhere in your signal route. They have to all be shielded instrument cables. Problem is, they look exactly the same. Trial and error time! Hope this helps.

Sounds like a ground problem. Usually the electricity or field of electricity from holding the guitar causes this if a ground problem is noticed. I wouldn’t paint the pickups themselves. What I would try first is to be sure you don’t have a faulty am cord leading from your guitar to your amp. I say this because you mentioned that your guitar never use to do this. I wouldn’t try anything that couldn’t be reversed first. Reply with more info and I may be able to help further.
